At night on New Road, the neon lights are shining and the streets are bustling with traffic. I turned into a small alley and found an old tea shop that has been open for over thirty years. The interior of the shop is simple and unadorned, with a few folding tables and plastic chairs, but it is filled with customers.
I ordered a dry-fried beef noodle soup. This is one of the must-order dishes in a tea restaurant. The rice noodles are quickly stir-fried on a hot iron plate, each strand coated with the color of soy sauce and emitting an inviting aroma. The beef is thinly sliced and well-marinated, melting in your mouth. The bean sprouts and scallion segments add a crisp texture, making the entire dish have a complete combination of color, aroma and taste.
Following the boss’s recommendation, I ordered the Macau Golden Beer. It has a deep color, with a rich malt aroma and a slight caramel flavor. It is smooth in the mouth and has a long-lasting aftertaste. It truly is the beer recommended by the locals of Macau. It’s really great!
The store was filled with office workers who had just finished work and nearby residents. They were eating beef noodles and chatting about daily life. The young people at the next table were loudly discussing the sports game and would even tap the table to cheer when they got excited. This lively atmosphere made one feel particularly cozy.
When I left, I was sweating profusely and my lips were slightly numb. But the night filled with delicious food and warmth was truly satisfying.
